The Una-Sana Canton is not yet on every travel map. That is precisely the point. What it offers — crystal rivers, ancient forests, karst springs of unknowable depth — remains genuinely, defiantly wild. Hamam Kozarice stands at the threshold.
Hamam Kozarice sits in Tromeđa village — the departure point for some of the finest natural experiences in northwest Bosnia. Six world-class attractions within 20 minutes.
A natural river archipelago in the heart of Bosanska Krupa. Wooden pedestrian bridges connect wooded islets over the emerald water of the Una — an ecological paradise that won the international Green Destinations Award in 2023.
By day: crystalline water, sun loungers, shaded walking paths, safe swimming zones for children. By summer evening: music, local food, and the kind of atmosphere you can't manufacture — the one that disappears when tourism gets too organised.
Sometimes called the "Bosnian Ibiza." The comparison is fair — and the traffic is considerably better.
The Una and Krušnica rivers are spoken of in reverent tones among serious fly fishers across Europe. Huchen (Danube salmon) reaching 30 kilograms. Wild brown trout and grayling in water so transparent the fish seem to float in glass.
Sight fishing on the Krušnica is a particular discipline: you select a specific fish, observe its behaviour, choose your fly, and place it with precision. The season opens on March 1st. Strictly regulated, permit-required, and guided by local experts who know every run and riffle.
The demographic that fly fishes internationally is accustomed to fine things. After a cold morning in the river, the jacuzzi at Hamam Kozarice is not a luxury. It is a necessity.
The International Tourist Una Rafting Regatta is one of Bosnia's greatest outdoor spectacles. The descent runs from Martin Brod, through the roaring Štrbački Buk waterfalls — a UNESCO-listed natural monument — down through the canyon to Bosanska Krupa. Class III and IV rapids. Bridge jumps. Riverside camps with live music and traditional Bosnian hospitality by night.
Local operators (Una Kamp, Una Aqua, Unatoure) run fully guided descents for all experience levels. Hamam Kozarice is the only five-star private base on the route — where you come to rest, recover, and do it all again tomorrow.
The Krušnica spring emerges directly from the depths of karst rock formations — turquoise water appearing from solid stone, as if from another world. Professional diving expeditions have descended beyond 112 metres without finding the floor.
It has become a pilgrimage site for the world's technical diving community. For those who don't dive: the visual spectacle of turquoise water materialising from rock is genuinely difficult to describe. One of those things that makes you wonder what else this part of the world is keeping quiet about.
Above Bosanska Krupa, on a promontory commanding the river canyon, stands the medieval Pset Fortress — a stone structure that has watched the rise and fall of empires and civilisations without being particularly moved by any of them.
Today it is accessible to visitors and offers one of the most dramatic panoramic views in the entire USK Canton: the town below, the Una threading through its canyon, and the green slopes of Grmeč in the distance. Essential for historians, photographers, and anyone who wants to understand this land before they leave it.
Above the Una canyon, Grmeč offers everything the city cannot: unbroken mountain forest, trails where you can walk for hours without passing another person, and the particular quality of silence that comes only when there are no roads within earshot.
Hiking, foraging for mushrooms and blueberries, wild swimming in mountain streams, winter walking in snow — Grmeč reinvents itself with every season. And when you return: warm water and the jacuzzi await at Hamam Kozarice.
Every season in Bosanska Krupa has its own character. Hamam Kozarice is open all year — the indoor pool runs while the outdoor attractions change around it.
All six attractions lie within 5 to 20 minutes of Hamam Kozarice. No long transfers — every morning you depart from your private base directly into the wild.
"Mornings in the mountains. Afternoons on the river.
Evenings in warm water."
This is Hamam Kozarice.
